Wonder Girls Dily!
Wonder Girls invade Canada

The Wonder Girls were in Vancouver last Monday to promote their single “Nobody” in Canada. The group has been opening for the Jonas Brothers at concerts since late last month.

JYP Entertainment, the management company for the Wonder Girls, said fan interest in Vancouver was especially “so hot.” Dressed in matching white dresses, the girls performed their trademark “Nobody dance” in front of 30,000 people. Park Jin-young (the JYP of JYP Entertainment) remarked on Twitter after the performance that “everybody was doing the nobody dance!” at the show.

According to Park, the performance was such a success that “the Jonas Brothers and their management officially asked [the Wonder Girls] to open for their entire U.S. tour,” meaning they’ll play ahead of the Jonas Brothers in 45 more concerts.

The workload just got bigger.

The Wonder Girls, who were originally scheduled for 13 opening performances in the Jonas Brothers’ concert, are now confirmed to be participating in all 45 city tours in North America.

With approximately 30,000 spectators from every performance, the Wonder Girls will sing before an audience of 1,500,000 people in the United States. There is much anticipation on how the 1,500,000 spectators, who have watched the performances, will give a review of the Wonder Girls’ on public websites.

Park Jin Young, the producer of Wonder Girls’ company JYP Entertainment, shared his confidence and uncontainable happiness for the girls on his Twitter site.

“The Jonas brothers and their management officially asked us to open for their entire US tour. And we said ‘yesssirrr!’. Isn’t this crazy?!”

The decision was made after directly observing the audience’s reaction to the opening performance by the Wonder Girls.

With the sudden increase in Wonder Girls’ opening performances for the remainder of the concert, their schedule is now packed.

Edmonton, Provo, Winnipeg, Omaha, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Rosemont, Chicago, Washington, East Rutherford, Boston, Uniondale, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, St. Louis, Kanasas City, Las Vegas, San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, Houston, New Orleans, Birmingham, Tampa, Charlotte, Atlanta, Lexington, Columbus, Cleveland, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa…

A JYPE representative revealed, “A great opportunity was offered to us.” He expressed his shock with the situation, stating, “I still can’t believe that, in the short amount of time we’ve been in the United States, the Wonder Girls are spreading so quickly in the North American market.”

There have been 4 opening performances by the Wonder Girls so far, all of which are already posted on Youtube and Twitter. Jonas Brothers’ fans, who once commented ‘Who the heck are the Wonder Girls’ on public site, are now progressively growing interested and finding more information about them.

Joe Jonas Likes The Wonder Girls?

The all-female, K-pop group Wonder Girls released their first North American single, “Nobody” and opened for the Jonas Brothers at Portland’s Rose Garden on Saturday.

According to the band’s management company JYP Entertainment, the English-language version of the Wonder Girls’ immensely popular single was released digitally the same day as their opening performance for America’s “tween-pop” sensations.

Telling fans to get up and dance, the Wonder Girls were introduced on stage by the Jonas Brothers’ father, Kevin Jonas, who co-manages his sons’ North American tour. Clad in sparkling Motown-style, one-piece dresses, the girls performed “Tell me” in front of 20,000 screaming fans.

Back stage, it was reported that Joe Jonas danced and sang along to their performance.

The group, whose next stop is Seattle, met with fans after the concert.

WonderGirls talks about impression of their American debut stage

WonderGirls talks about their nerve-wrecking experience of their American debut stage.

The girls did the opening stage to Jonas Brothers’ concert in Portland on 27th June at 7pm (KST) infront of a 20,000-strong audience.

SunYe said, “This did not feel like 100% reality to us yet to have such a great and exciting opportunity coming to us. We did it with a heart for enjoyment more than feeling nervous and scared. What we are thankful for is that there is never sufficient things, big or small, that we have went through all these times that we find perfect. Always working hard to get that perfection is why we never stopped and that is why we got to where we are today.”

SunMi, “Today is SoHee’s birthday in American time! In Portland! In the name of WonderGirls! We are preparing for the sucess in our American debut. I didn’t know that it would come so fast, the dream that I’ve always dreamt of. It was really nerve-wrecking to walk up to the stage and put up this performance. I am so excited and nervous about performing in a new country, on a new stage in front of new people.”

YeEun, “This is our first day as opening guest. I get the feeling that it is real after talking to the tour staff and doing rehearsals. I can hear the audience shouting outside. I am worried about being able to do well on stage but I am really grateful about WonderGirls coming so far this 2 years. It is beyond our expectations that we can have our American debut so fast and we will always work hard and give our best.” with a smile.

YooBin, “How come I’m not feeling nervous at all.. Actually for my debut stage in Korea I wasn’t nervous too.. But still I’m excited. It has always been my dream to perform on American stage with my dongsaengs, and I’m so excited. I want to go on the stage quickly. I want to show and awe the audience. I want to go on stage and perform our dance and song quickly. Watch out America, we are coming.”

And for SoHee who is celebrating her birthday that day, “This is the day of our American debut and also the first day as opening guest to the concert. It still doesn’t feel like reality to me – watching the concert, and also performing for it. Releasing an album and performing in America but not in Korea – it has always been words and dreams, but doing it right now I don’t know how I’m feeling. But we will work hard as the WonderGirls.”

Billboard Gets It All Wrong about the Wonder Girls

It was reported today that there was some misinformation published about the Wonder Girls on the American Billboard website. In the Artiste Biography section which introduces the Wonder Girls which was written by Chris True, only 3 instead of 5 names were listed as being the members of the group. It was mighty puzzling also to see Kim Hyun A being listed as an existing Wonder Girl member even though she had already left and is now part of a new girl group, 4minute back in Korea. The lack of correct information might cause some confusion for new fans of the Wonder Girls, particularly as Billboard is considered to be a definitive music source. They probably should have checked on Wikipedia for the information.

JYP Entertainment has already learnt about this and will be meeting the relevant people to sort this out. I wonder if it’s because of the name changes for the other 3 members. In preparation for their American debut, only Yoo Bin and So Hee kept their original names while Sun Ye became Sun, Ye Eun became Yenny while Sun Mi became Mimi.

The Wonder Girls will be opening for the Jonas Brothers World Tour on 27th June and their digital single of Nobody in english will also be out.
